Dietitian vs. Nutritionist

What’s the difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist?

All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians. A registered dietitian is a credentialed, nationally recognized food and nutrition expert and must have:

Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university;

Completed an accredited supervised practice program;

Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
